The Grenada national football team are affectionately known as The Spice Boys. They have never qualified for a world cup finals tournament but haven’t actually entered many either.
Grenada can be found in the Caribbean sea and is located to the north west of Trinidad and Tobago. It is one of the worlds largest exporters of spice which explains the football team’s nickname. The national has a small population of just over 100,000.
Grenada is a commonwealth state and so has the Queen as its head of state. Above the spice trade in terms of the country’s economy is tourism. It is a growing force within the country as they are regularly visited by cruise ships. The nation also boasts beautiful beaches with one believed to be one of the nicest in the world.
The Grenada national football team will always struggle in world football as it is not the national sport. That honour goes to cricket, which has a key role in Grenada’s culture.
