The Suriname national football team take part in the Central and North American section of world cup qualifying, although the country is in South America. The country struggles at international level as many of their best players choose to play for the Netherlands. Edgar Davids, Clarence Seedorf and Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink are some of those who have done just that. The Surinamese Football Association decided that any players who choose to play in Holland are unavailable for their national team.
