The Georgia national football team have never qualified for a major tournament, including world cups and European championships. They have however only attempted to qualify since 1996.
The team played their first international match against Lithuania in 1990. The game ended 2-2 and was the only match played by Georgia before their independence in 1991. The side became a member of both UEFA and FIFA in 1992. The Georgia national football team’s first competitive match was a 1-0 defeat to Moldova in 1994, part of the qualifying for Euro 96.
Georgia have never really threatened to make it to a world cup or a European championship, and the team are still developing on the international stage.
